Sutherland holds hundreds of wild brown trout lochs in Britain. We work the drifts with a boatman who reads the water, chooses the flies, and works each session with you. The loch sets the pace — fishing at the rhythm of the weather.
You'll fish across multiple lochs — Hope, Naver, Loyal, and the high hill lochans in Sutherland, one of the last true wilderness areas in Britain. Each loch has its own character, and we'll match the day to your party and the conditions.
At the end of the day, you head back to the lodge for a whisky by the fire and dinner with the family running the house.

Larger trout destined for the table go straight to the Garvault kitchen — wild brown trout cook brilliantly. Smaller fish and any catches close to the limit go back. Catch-and-release is the norm on the wild lochs.
Very high. Sutherland is wild country, but with personal guiding across multiple lochs and three full days on the loch, most parties leave with the trout they came for. We'll talk you through expectations honestly on a call.
Absolutely. Observers stay at the lodge for $1,000, or add a sightseeing programme for $1,500 — guided day trips to castles, distilleries, beaches and Highland scenery while you're on the loch.
Light to moderate. Most loch fishing is from a drifting boat. The walk-in to the higher hill lochans involves some uphill ground but nothing strenuous.
